Vasaiker is a growing digital archive of Vasai’s history, heritage, culture, music, photographs, and community memory.
The project explores the many layers of the region’s past—from Portuguese Baçaim and Vasai Fort to villages, churches, families, writers, musicians, and everyday life. It brings together articles, original Marathi writing and English translations, photographs, recordings, maps, books, and other archival material.
Our approach
We aim to preserve material carefully, credit original creators and sources, and distinguish documented history from oral memory or personal interpretation. Where possible, Marathi originals are presented alongside English translations so that local voices remain central and accessible to a wider audience.
Contributing
Vasaiker welcomes responsibly shared photographs, documents, memories, recordings, family histories, and research related to Vasai. Contributors should share only material they own or have permission to publish, together with any available source, date, location, and credit information.
